You can reply directly to your invitation email with answers, corrections, or a photo. You can also write to the election desk:
The election desk reads and reviews email replies before publication.
Include the candidate or office, the page address if available, and the statement or photograph your request concerns. For a correction, explain the proposed change and include public supporting sources. For a photo request, describe your connection to the image or its rights.
You can also request that campaign emails stop. We may follow up to verify a request before changing coverage or contact preferences.
Candidate answers by email
Brief answers are welcome. Answer any questions you choose, or send a photo on its own.
Your answers and any background information you provide are intended for publication in TrueSpokane's candidate Q&A and profile. TrueSpokane uses AI to assist research and drafting; publication requires editorial review. Submitting material does not publish it automatically.
Sending a photo by email
A photo alone is welcome. The photographer's name, requested credit, and copyright holder are optional; include them if known. Permission to publish is required. If you own the image or are authorized to license it, include your name and this statement with the photo:
I confirm that I am the rights holder, or authorized by the rights holder, and grant TrueSpokane permission to publish this image with the supplied credit in current and archived election coverage, including routine cropping and resizing.
The form accepts JPEG, PNG, or WebP photos up to 20 MB and automatically prepares larger photos for upload.
Optional, separate AI illustration permission
Photo permission does not include AI illustration. If you also want to grant that use, include this additional statement:
I confirm that I am the copyright holder for this photograph, or authorized by the copyright holder to grant this use. I also give TrueSpokane nonexclusive permission to use this photograph with an AI image-generation service to create a clearly labeled editorial illustration of the candidate, and to publish that illustration with the supplied source credit in current and archived TrueSpokane election coverage. This permission does not include advertising, merchandise, or model training.
How requests are handled
Contact details and request explanations are kept private unless you separately authorize publication. Sending a request does not publish it automatically. Please leave out sensitive personal information.
You can request photo or profile omission or removal by email or through the form, including a request to be left off the site entirely. TrueSpokane keeps a factual candidate profile for election coverage even if you decline to participate or ask to be omitted. A confirmed profile omission request may be noted on the profile as "Profile omission requested" with the date. We will publish your explanation only if you explicitly authorize it. Requests receive editorial review and do not automatically remove published material.
